CINDY WEIGAND has loved stories since listening to her grandmother’s growing up. She is the author of the anthology, Texas Women in World War II (2003). In 2021, Weigand published the Ride of Passage, coming-of-age story. In 2024, she published the historical fiction novel, Big Jack, Cowboy Aviator (2024), based on the flying life of a great uncle during the Roaring Twenties. His story inspired her to write Mavis Perkins, Flying Journalist in 2025. Weigand has adapted Ride of Passage, into a screenplay with the same title. Weigand combined Big Jack, Cowboy Aviator and Mavis Perkins, Flying Journalist into the screenplay, Sky Carnival: Flying with Jack & Mavis in 2025.

Weigand is also a film enthusiast and founder of GTX Film which produces an annual film festival in Georgetown, Texas. She served as President and Executive Director until 2023. She now resides in Tulsa, OK.
